Attended FSU for a year; it didn't like me and I was not fond of it. Went into U.S. Merchant Marine for two years, sailing on passenger ships out of New York. Youngest helmsmen on S.S. United States, 990' long 52,000 DWT still holds Blue Ribbon for fastest Atlantic crossing, declassified speed @ 56knots. Visited ports in Europe, Mediterranean, Africa, Caribbean and South America. Enlisted in U.S. Army in '65, graduated from OCS as LT with Combat Engineers, assigned Germany for 18 months then off to Helicopter Flight School. Joined 5th Special Forces then proceeded to Vietnam as helicopter gunship commander inserting LRRP (long range recon teams) into Laos, Cambodia and North Vietnam along the Ho Chi Minh Trail network. Shot down three times (twice in one day). Stayed with it for 25 years, retirng with 100% disability. (One too many parachute jumps. Some pieces of my instrument panel they couldn't get out of my leg in 'Nam and Agent Orange exposure which netted problems with cancer). Flew corporate fast movers (Jets), for a few years rated in LR 23,24, 25, Jet Commander, Westwind, B17, B727CE, B757. Married to the former Joyce Srammuzza of New Orleans, we enjoy 4 children, 8 grand children and 1 great grandchild. We live just off of Lake Pontchartrain, 30 miles North of New Orleans and enjoy cruising with our 44' Searay. Come visit when in the area !
