In 1963 I married fellow '62 Gables graduate, Tom Berk. By the end of 1969 our family had grown to include four daughters, but we were divorced in 1971.

I received a BS in Psychology and a MS in Vocational Education from Florida International University.

Through the years I worked as a private detective (fascinating and exciting work), owned and operated a nursery school on Miami Beach, did some small investing in real estate, opened a couple of small restaurants, worked with potential drop out students at a junior high school and married William Maer.

I did volunteer work with girl scouts, catechism classes, children's sports programs, community service organizations and started becoming more active in community issues relating to education and equal opportunities.

I have been blessed with 4 great kids and 15 fantastic grandchildren, ages 8-28; all of whom live in Miami. So we have anywhere from 4 to 12 grandkids spend the night most weekends and I get to stay in touch with what is happening with the youngest generation. I work part-time in the family business and manage a couple of properties. I am a volunteer/advocate/ activist for our neighborhood public school, volunteer on a couple of boards, and enjoy get-togethers with some remarkable and accomplished women to discuss our current projects and passions and I am a political junkie who is trying to "recover".
