Retired President & CEO - Equitrac Corp

I fell in love with Linda Wright, my classmate, during our senior year. Immediately after high school graduation I joined the Army and served for three years. While in the Army, Linda and I got engaged and we were married in May, 1965 shortly after I was discharged from the service.

I enrolled at the University of Florida and received my BS degree in 1967. I continued in graduate school at UF and received my MBA in December 1968. After graduate school, Linda and I moved to Miami where I started my first job with Eastern Airlines as a systems analyst. I was with Eastern for five years and then moved into banking for the next five years.

In 1979 I joined an entrepreneurial venture with a good friend from my days at Eastern Airlines. We started Equitrac Corporation in a small office above a restaurant in Coral Gables. The company grew significantly and I became president and CEO in 1986. We went public on the NASDAQ in 1992 and then did a management-backed leveraged buyout in 1999. Equitrac is now a global company with operations around the world.

I retired from Equitrac in 2002 shortly after the tragic death of our only daughter Amy. We spend about half of our time in South Florida and the other half in Santa Fe, New Mexico where we have had a vacation home since 1993. I continue to be an avid handball player (still not very good), enjoy fishing and diving and ski and hike in New Mexico.

Linda Wright and I have been happily married for 47 years. We have lived in Miami since 1965 and raised three children. Coral Gables High School will always be a wonderful memory for me. I met my wife at Gables High and her wisdom and guidance has led me through life.
